This was the seat of the DDR fron the mid- 1970’s until the fall of the DDR. It also had cafe’s, auditoriums, and theaters. Its was located on Marx-Engles-Platz. It was demolished in 2004 due to its political connotations as well as its high asbestos content. In its place they are building a replica of a Prussian era castle.People are pissed about the Prussian castle design. I’m excited to go to Berlin and get pissed about this.
